Summary Role Description:
The Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Enablement is a key leadership role responsible for driving strategic clarity, internal alignment, and operational excellence across the Global Medical Affairs Function (GMAF). This individual will lead internal communications, support strategic planning and execution, and foster a mission-driven culture. Working closely with the GMAF Leadership Team and cross-functional stakeholders, the role ensures that strategic initiatives are effectively communicated, executed, and measured for impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Enablement & Innovation
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives and roadmaps aligned with the MAF vision.
  • Identify and integrate best practices and future trends in Medical Affairs
  • Drive innovation in capabilities and long-range strategic planning.
Strategic Communication Planning
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies aligned with GMAF goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership and capability leads to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Design and execute internal engagement events.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications for alignment and amplification.
Content Creation & Management
  • Create and manage communications content across multiple channels in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Maintain a communications calendar to ensure timely and relevant messaging.
Chief of Staff Support
  • Support Chief of Staff with communication, materials, and other tasks
  • Drive HR-related processes such as OKR development, tracking, and coaching
  • Enhance GMAF leadership team meeting efficiency through standardized templates and governance.
Culture & Engagement
  • Lead initiatives to build and reinforce a strong, mission-driven culture.
  • Develop action plans based on employee feedback
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Life Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic communications, project management, or Medical Affairs.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with internal communications platforms and tools.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to travel as needed (<10%)

The salary range for this position is: $136,600 to $204,800. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
