SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
BioMarin is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Director, Commercial Digital Enablement, a pivotal role responsible for defining and executing the company’s Commercial digital technology strategy and blueprint to support our commercial and therapeutic area teams. This exciting role is part of BioMarin’s fast-evolving Global Commercial Digital Strategy & Operations team. Led by the newly appointed Head of Global Commercial Digital, the team is rapidly scaling to deliver transformative high-impact capabilities to achieve our ambitious business goals. This position will drive the adoption of advanced digital and AI-enabled solutions that enhance omnichannel marketing, customer engagement, digital measurement and operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise standards.
The Director will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of digital strategic initiatives, digital data, technologies and tools, working closely with cross-functional partners in marketing, sales, patient services, IT, and analytics insights to deliver future-driven, scalable, compliant, and user-centric digital solutions. This role will also establish and maintain governance frameworks for digital, data, privacy, and compliance, while empowering teams with actionable insights and optimized workflows to maximize the impact of digital investments.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead digital strategic transformation initiatives to drive the adoption and orchestration of emerging digital technologies and AI-enabled workflows to accelerate personalization, automation, and execution.
•Execute the global commercial forward-looking digital and AI strategy, aligning with BioMarin’s overall business objectives and ensuring seamless integration with the enterprise digital vision.
•Define the digital capabilities and investments roadmap and prioritize initiatives to ensure efficient resource allocation and timely project execution.
•Oversee the entire digital enablement lifecycle, from requirements gathering and deployment to ongoing optimization and future enhancements.
•Collaborate closely with therapeutic area leads and their respective sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure digital solutions effectively support their unique needs.
•Act as a trusted advisor to business units, fostering collaboration, alignment, and providing guidance on how digital capabilities can drive engagement, personalization, and business impact.
•Partner closely with Compliance, Legal, Program Management and Regulatory Affairs to ensure all digital solutions, including AI enabled tools, meet internal governance standards and external regulatory requirements.
•Collaborate with IT on digital technology platform upgrades, integrations, and new functionalities to meet evolving business needs.
•Optimize digital tools, dashboards, and workflows to provide clear, actionable information for field and commercial teams, enabling them to perform their roles efficiently.
•Work with digital strategy, sales enablement and commercial operations teams to ensure users have the digital tools needed to engage effectively with customers.
•Analyze digital engagement data to extract meaningful insights that inform business decisions at both strategic and operational levels.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, medical, customer service, IT) to ensure seamless integration of digital strategies across departments.
•Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new digital capabilities, solutions and technologies across the organization, while minimizing disruption to business operations.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree in Digital Transformation Leadership, Organizational Leadership, or a similar discipline preferred.
•10+ years of experience in leading digital and AI initiatives, technology enablement, or transformation, preferably within life sciences, biotech industry or a similarly regulated environment.
•Proven experience working with digital technologies (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce, AI/ML platforms) and their integration with marketing automation and analytics tools.
•Strong experience with agile transformation, localized deployment models, and digital / omnichannel systems.
•Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels of the organization (business and IT).
•Proven leadership skills motivating teams to attain critical goals in a dynamic environment with competing priorities across business functions.
•Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects from concept through execution in a fast-paced environment.
•Vendor management experience including vendor evaluation / selection, due diligence, contracting, and performance management.
•Familiarity with rare disease therapeutic areas or specialty pharma digital and marketing practices.

The salary range for this position is: $176,000 to $242000. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
