About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

SUMMARY
The Business Process Analyst, Technical Manager is a strategic leader at the Novato Site, responsible for ensuring that core SAP business processes—spanning manufacturing, supply chain, and quality—are effectively maintained, and continuously improved. A key aspect of this role is aligning these processes with SAP capabilities, ensuring that workflows are not only operationally sound but also scalable, compliant, and well-integrated with business processes. This includes supporting the sustainment and enhancement of SAP-enabled processes to drive long-term efficiency and performance.
Functioning as both a business analyst and a change agent, the Technical Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities, lead change initiatives, and ensure that business operations are aligned with strategic goals. The role serves as a vital link between site operations and enterprise functions, translating business needs into actionable process requirements and ensuring that SAP-supported workflows are optimized for usability and effectiveness.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with stakeholders across manufacturing, supply chain, and quality functions and Ignite Center of Excellence to identify business processes impacted by system enhancements.
- Serve as Business Process Manager for Systems as necessary.
- Design and document comprehensive workflows for new and revised business processes, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear business requirements, functional specifications, and process maps to guide system related enhancements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess and prioritize process changes based on business impact, urgency, and resource availability.
- Develop and manage action plans to implement approved changes, ensuring timely execution and alignment with project milestones.
- Monitor progress and escalate risks or delays to ensure accountability and resolution.
- Lead change management efforts to support the adoption of new or modified business processes.
- Develop training materials, user guides, and support documentation tailored to end-user needs.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build process awareness, capability, and confidence across teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, and IT.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and gather user feedback to identify further enhancement opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support strategic and operational goals.
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated expertise in business process modeling, analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex workflows, identify inefficiencies, and develop strategic solutions.
- Proven ability to create clear and comprehensive process documentation, including workflows, SOPs, and training materials.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Experience facilitating change management initiatives such process mapping and/or kaizen events.
- Track record of driving cross-functional alignment and partnering with diverse teams to implement process improvements that support business objectives.
- Deliver training to support process adoption and operational readiness.
- Solid understanding of SAP-supported business processes, particularly within manufacturing, supply chain, and quality.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with the ability to build consensus, drive accountability, and support decision-making across departments.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, assess risks, and uncover opportunities for optimization.
- Adept at navigating ambiguity and leading process transformation efforts with a Lean and Agile approach.
EDUCATION
- BA/BS in Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field.
OTHER
- 8years’ experienceinBiotechnology,Pharmaceuticalorotherregulatoryindustryrequired.
- Knowledge of SAP, Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management, and Data Analytics is desired.
- 4 days a week onsite presence.

The salary range for this position is: $95,400 to $131,120. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
