About Technical Operations

BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager Product Launch is a key role as part of the Product Supply Chain Management organization. This position will have responsibilities for planning and coordination of activities to launch products into new markets, including responsibilities to form and manage Product Launch Teams consisting of colleagues from commercial, regulatory, supply chain, manufacturing and quality. 
The Senior Manager Product Launch builds integrated plans across Technical Operations, Regulatory and Commercial Operations ultimately accountable for assuring on-time launches per agreed launch commit dates.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of Product Launch (New Product Introduction) and enabling processes (e.g., Market Timing), and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, maintain track, manage and communicate integrated Launch project plans to enable accurate reporting, escalations as required and decision making.
Form Product Launch Teams to meet specific requirements for successful launch, maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders
Develop and maintain standard processes, tools and metrics to use across product lifecycle changes and launches
Ensure team members adhere to established processes, best practices, and project delivery methodology with clarity of individual accountabilities and responsibilities.
Manage critical path and key project risks, escalate as required via established Governance through TOPS Product Teams.
Prioritize activities effectively across multiple products and launches to ensure best use of time.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a matrix team of TOPS professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Designing and managing the product launch process and dashboard to support the customer and commercial requirements and timelines for launch.
Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure proactive management and tracking of new product launches by product and market.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant TOPS and Regulatory policies and processes.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate and consistently communicate with key stakeholders, including BU leadership, TOPS product teams and leadership.
Technology Utilization: Leverage logistics technology and systems to streamline processes and improve data accuracy to support Product Launch Dashboards.
Change Leadership:  As a member of the Product Supply Chain Team(s) support and drive the change management requirements through communication internally and externally, developing the vision for Launch Excellence and broader PSCM and GSC organization and empowering team members to make effective decisions. 
This role is responsible for supporting the on-time Launch and availability of products in market in compliance with applicable regulations. Decisions made in this role are of critical nature in mitigating risks for the business while ensuring BioMarin’s commercial products are delivered to patients in a timely and compliant manner.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred: MBA in supply chain management, finance or business operations
In lieu of above, other undergraduate degree plus continuing education in the logistics or extended supply chain management field required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum seven years of experience in Supply Chain Product Launch or related discipline. 
Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Lean-DMAIC expertise, preferably Green Belt Certified or higher
Project management certification, PMP or equivalent.
Strong regulatory and GMP acumen
Detail-oriented, analytical thinker, problem-solver, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to lead change initiatives and drive improvements within and across functions which enable compliance and mitigate risk 
Ability to effectively work autonomously and independently
Proficiency in Microsoft applications and understanding of MS PowerBI, SAP, or like technologies
Approximately 15% travel
